Classic and creative Japanese cuisine by Chef Akira Kishimoto and crew.
Focusing on quality and freshness, using only wild salmon, and seasonal, local ingredients when available. Imported fish is carefully selected at Toyosu Market in Tokyo and flown direct to us. Everything is carefully made in house from our sushi rice vinegar, soups, sauces, desserts, to our own blend of tamari shoyu.We use fresh flowers and garnishes from our garden for you to enjoy.
Good food and friendly service in a casual, lively atmosphere.
We're an active member of BuyBC's EatDrinkLocal campaign supporting local ingredients, wine, beverages and local farms.

 

THE CHEF

Chef Akira Kishimoto has over 20 years of experience with Japanese cuisine. He began his career at the age of 18 in his hometown of Osaka, first learning how to select and cut fresh fish at the market. He went on to acquire his cooking license while working in restaurants in Osaka and Kyoto where he dedicated himself to his craft. In addition to sushi, he received training in 'kaiseki' (traditional seasonal cuisine)  under talented chefs in Kyoto. Following his dream of opening a restaurant abroad, he made the move to Vancouver. He has worked at a few of Vancouver's well known Japanese establishments, where he was able to showcase his love of 'edible art' and combine Japanese techniques with local ingredients.
He met his wife here, and together they opened Kishimoto in 2011.
Along with our hardworking team, Chef Akira enjoys creating new dishes that are equally as beautiful as they are delicious.
